The world of 3D printing turns to solving a worldwide housing crisis in an affordable (and stylish!) way.
3D printed homes are the way of the future! You might live in an apartment, a single-family home, a tiny house, or a luxury beach mansion; regardless of where you live, you have a home while so many others do not. But all of that is changing with the world of 3D printed homes.
Architects and scientists have found a way to make small, durable, and, most importantly, affordable homes that can meet housing code. These homes allow families that could not afford their own home to put a roof over their heads and have a space that is all their own.
The first, up-to-code home is already built and stands in Austin, Texas. Sure, it’s small, but I think we can all agree that’s a very nice looking house! Find out more in the video below.
3Dhome.org – The first permitted, 3D-printed home created specifically for the developing world was unveiled today in Austin, Texas by New Story, the non-profit working to create a world where no human being lives in survival mode, and ICON, the newly launched construction technologies company leading the way into the future of homebuilding by using 3D printing to make major advancements in affordability, building performance, sustainability and customizability.
