Denzel Washington returns to Broadway in a new production of The Iceman Cometh.
Denzel Washington is not new to theater; in fact, he won a Tony Award for best actor in August Wilson’s Fences before going on to star in the film adaptation with Viola Davis. He has proven to be a formidable actor both on screen as well as on stage and he shows no signs of slowing down in the new Broadway production of The Iceman Cometh.
The Iceman Cometh was written in 1939 by playwright Eugene O’Neill and tells the story of the alcoholic patrons and prostitutes that frequent a Greenwich Village saloon. The play is set in 1912 in the area of New York City but it is as relevant today as it was when it first debuted. Jason Robards, Kevin Spacey, James Earl Jones, James Cromwell, Nathan Lane are just a few famous actors who have starred in productions of the play both on and off Broadway.
The current Broadway production stars Washington along with Tammy Blanchard, Frank Wood, Bill Irwin, Colm Meaney, and David Morse to name a few. It is directed by the legendary George C. Wolfe and officially began it’s short-term run on April 26, 2018. Find out more at icemanonbroadway.com.
