What’s it all about?

The Lion King features music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice. However, the success of the stage adaptation is largely credited to the original director Julie Taymor. The musical tells the story of Simba, a young lion, and heir to the throne, who is forced to flee after his uncle murders his father. Simba is aided in his journey by a baboon named Rafiki and a pair of comedic sidekicks, Timon and Pumbaa. Along the way, Simba learns valuable lessons about responsibility, loyalty, and forgiveness. Ultimately, he reclaims his rightful place as the king of the Pride Lands.

The Lion King has been seen by millions of people around the world and has been translated into eight different languages. It has played in numerous cities across the United States and Canada, as well as in London’s West End. It remains one of the most popular and beloved musicals of all time.
