Audiobook Review: No Place Left to Hide by Megan Lally, Narrated by Justis Bolding

Secrets have a way of creeping back up when you least expect them, and in No Place Left to Hide, Megan Lally throws readers (or, in this case, listeners) straight into the chaos. Brooke has spent years curating the perfect life—flawless grades, impeccable image, and a carefully controlled reputation—but one terrifying night on a dark, deserted road threatens to unravel everything. With Justis Bolding’s narration bringing suspense and tension throughout, this YA thriller is quite a ride. Find out why I gave the audiobook three out of five stars below.

To Brooke, image is everything. She works hard to maintain perfect grades, perfect looks, a perfect life—especially after “the incident” that threatened it all. Getting into her dream university puts her that much closer to a fresh start. How can she say no to celebrating with all her classmates?

Hanging out with her crush by the bonfire is the perfect end to the night. Except it isn’t the end. An old truck starts aggressively tailing Brooke and her best friend on the isolated road toward home. Someone thinks they know the truth about “the incident,” and they won’t stop until it’s all out in the open. This terrifying drive is about to bring out Brooke’s worst fears…if she survives it. If you’re looking for a fun, fast-paced young adult thriller, Megan Lally’s No Place Left to Hide might be your next listen. With a clear focus on teenage audiences, this story feels young. Still, it delivers enough energy and intrigue to appeal to YA fiction fans of all ages. While there were moments when the plot didn’t fully captivate me, Lally more than made up for it with a final act that was hard to put down. The last quarter of the book had me turning page after page (or the listening equivalent), anxious to find out how it would all end—and it was quite an ending.

This was my first time reading Megan Lally’s work, and I’m already looking forward to exploring more of her stories. And I have to say, the audiobook is a great option because it was so engaging. Justis Bolding’s narration was dynamic, with seamless energy and sharp character transitions. I’ll absolutely look out for more audiobooks narrated by Bolding in the future.

No Place Left to Hide is a decent pick for anyone who loves fast-paced YA stories, and the audiobook version elevates the entire experience. If you’re craving a teenage thriller, this one’s worth adding to your list.
