If you’ve been around here for a minute, you’ve probably picked up on my mild (read: full-blown) fascination with Saturday Night Live. I mean, how could I not be? Fifty years on the air, and it still manages to feel fresh, unpredictable, and—at its best—downright legendary. Even when an SNL episode doesn’t quite land, you have to respect the sheer audacity of it all.

I’ve devoured every behind-the-scenes story. I’ve watched all the documentaries. And I think I can confidently say I have a pretty solid mental blueprint of Studio 8H—past and present. (Okay, fine, “fascination” might be underselling it; maybe “obsession” is better?) But despite all that, I’ve never taken an official tour of the SNL set with actual cast members.
