Nirvana reunited at SNL 50 with Post Malone on vocals—and it was everything. A performance for the ages that left my inner teen screaming!
The Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Concert was one of the most incredible concerts I’ve ever seen—and I wasn’t even there in person. I was sitting on my couch, streaming it from home, and yet it still felt like an all-time, once-in-a-lifetime experience. That’s how good it was. Here are just a few names from the line-up: Bad Bunny, Brandi Carlile, Bonnie Raitt, David Byrne, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Lauryn FREAKIN Hill, Miley Cyrus, Mumford & Sons, Snoop and more!
From the SNL legends bringing their best (Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer’s Marty and Bobbie Culp? The Lonely Island medley? Jimmy Fallon kicking things off with a Blues Brothers tribute?!) to the professional musicians absolutely crushing it, the entire night was a flawless celebration of music and comedy. And can we all just take a moment to appreciate The Roots?! If you haven’t seen Questlove’s SNL50 music documentary yet, do yourself a favor: stop reading, watch it, and come back. You’ll thank me later.
Smells Like Teen Spirit
But let’s talk about the real moment of the night—the one that sent me into full nostalgia overload: Nirvana and Post Malone.
Since Kurt Cobain’s passing, we’ve seen a handful of artists step in to front Nirvana for special performances, but Post Malone might be my favorite so far. Watching him push his vocals to the limit, completely immersed in the music, was electrifying. And then there was Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, and Krist Novoselic—together again. Just seeing them share the stage made my heart explode. The teenager inside me was screaming.
So, if you haven’t watched the Nirvana/Post Malone performance of Smells Like Teen Spirit, what are you even doing?! Let’s fix that immediately! Watch:
