Archbishop Harold Holmes: Jack White & John C. Reilly Preach Madness

Let’s just get this out of the way: Archbishop Harold Holmes didn’t exactly top the charts when Jack White dropped No Name (2024). But like all good, weird things, it found its people. And now? With the release of the official music video—starring a completely dialed-in John C. Reilly—it’s finally getting the spotlight it deserves.

Turns out Reilly didn’t just show up to collect a check. He pushed White to make the video in the first place, helped conceptualize it, and then teamed up with director Gilbert Trejo (yes, Danny Trejo’s son) to bring it to life. The result? A chaotic, mesmerizing fever dream with strong One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest vibes and a sermon you definitely don’t want to follow.

White wrote the song after being inspired by a religious chain letter and the larger-than-life performances of evangelical preachers. And who better to play a charismatic, slightly terrifying, utterly untrustworthy spiritual hustler than John C. Reilly? His high-octane performance is magnetic, unnerving, and—frankly—perfect.

It’s great storytelling packed into a few minutes, and it only gets better with every rewatch. So yes, go watch the Archbishop Harold Holmes video. Then watch it again. And again. And again… I did.
