Overexposed song, unexpected cover. Goose gives “Running Up That Hill” new life—and it works.
Ever since Stranger Things season four sent “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush rocketing back up the charts, everyone—and I mean everyone—has taken a swing at it.
I’m not mad about it. I’ve happily watched cover after cover (do not sleep on St. Vincent at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony). Most of them are good. Some are great. None of them surprising. Until I recently stumbled across a video of Goose covering the song at a November 2024 show in Cincinnati, OH.
Full disclosure: I’ve been a Kate Bush fan since I was a kid (thanks, Mom), and I’ve been following Goose for several years now, so yes—I might be biased. But I don’t think that’s what this is. Instead of trying to recreate the original’s urgency, they give it room to breathe. In the way that only a jam band can. Watch!
