And yet… here we are.

Warner Bros. Pictures just released a new trailer for The End of Oak Street: a sci-fi survival thriller by writer-director David Robert Mitchell. The movie takes a quiet suburban street, one of the most ordinary places you can imagine, and throws it into total cosmic chaos.

The Premise (Yes, There Are Dinosaurs)

The premise is definitely strange. After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street away from suburbia and sends the whole neighborhood somewhere unknown, the Platt family has to figure out how to survive in a place that is no longer familiar, friendly, or safe.

A whole street disappearing from normal life is creepy enough on its own, but that “somewhere unknown” includes dinosaurs.

I did not expect to type that sentence today.

Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada and just about every movie coming out in 2026-2027—seriously, does she ever take a break?) and Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) play Denise and Greg Platt. Maisy Stella (Nashville) is their daughter, Audrey, and Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth) completes the family.

Why This One Has My Attention

The trailer is full of spectacle: strange skies, panicked neighbors, and IMAX-sized danger. What stands out, though, is that the survival story depends on the family sticking together. Not in a cute family movie way, but more like, “Please don’t wander off or a giant dinosaur might eat you.”

What I like about this trailer is that it’s not just about showing off dinosaurs—though, to be honest, I’m always happy to see dinosaurs. It’s more about what happens when the safest place in your life suddenly becomes unrecognizable.
