Andy Samberg and Charli xcx Are Reporting You to the Cops!

I can’t get this song out of my head. I woke up singing it, people. And I’m not entirely sure that’s a good thing. “Here I Go” is a ridiculously catchy tune from The Lonely Island crew and Charli xcx, with a music video that premiered as a digital short on Saturday Night Live this week. When I say it’s catchy, I mean it’s an absolute bop.

So, why don’t I want this song stuck in my head? If you know, you know. But if you don’t—and I suddenly belt out, “Heeeeerrrrreeeee I goooo, I’m reporting you to the cops!” in the middle of a grocery store—people might assume I’m insane. Or worse, a full-blown Karen. This makes sense because that’s exactly the kind of people the song is roasting. It’s satire, people. Laugh with me, not at me.

Regardless of whether I embarrass myself at Trader Joe’s, “Here I Go” is a brilliant music video. Andy Samberg and Charli xcx absolutely crush it as an outwardly wholesome couple who get their kicks anonymously reporting everyone to the police. The absurdity is perfection, and I dare you to watch it without humming the tune for days after. Seriously, one viewing, and it’s game over—don’t say I didn’t warn you.
