Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Real-Life Fighting is Awkward

Picture it: it’s the big showdown at the end of the movie; someone throws the first punch, which hits hard and sets up an epic fight. The sequence is so captivating that you can’t look away, and you know you’d look that cool if you were ever in a fight like that. You’d be wrong, of course. Because the truth is, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is correct: Real-Life Fighting is Awkward!

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend follows Rebecca Bunch after she moves across the country for a guy she made out with when she was a kid. Rebecca, a highly respected lawyer, shoehorns her way into his life at any cost because she believes fate has brought them together. It sounds like a pretty straightforward sitcom, right? But wait, there’s more. The series comedically (and musically) tackles serious issues like unstable marriages, mental health issues, and living with your mistakes. With honest and comedic numbers written by Rachel Bloom and the late Adam Schlesinger (F&%K YOU, COVID!), you’ll be singing catchy tunes like “The Sexy Getting Ready Song” or “You Stupid Bitch” and, of course, one of my favorites, “Anti-Depressants Are So Not A Big Deal” all day long. If you haven’t seen it, you’re missing out (the entire series, which ended in 2019, is currently streaming on Netflix)!

While it’s not necessarily one of my top ten Crazy Ex-Girlfriend songs, the “Real Life Fighting is Awkward” scene is one of my favorites from the series. The scene finds two friends, played by Skylar Astin and Vincent Rodriguez, III, getting physical in one of the most awkward fights ever! And who doesn’t need a hilariously awkward musical fight scene in their life?! Watch!
