I could listen to Ruth Wilson read the phone book—wait, do we even say phone book anymore? Okay, how about a list of random names off the internet? Whatever, you get the point: Ruth Wilson could read anything, and I’d hang on to every word. Her voice is pure magic—smooth, musical, and oh-so-cutting when needed. So, you can imagine how excited I was to hear she will be narrating The Golden Compass series by Philip Pullman.

Fun fact: Ruth Wilson is not new to The Golden Compass world. She played the fierce Mrs. Coulter in HBO’s His Dark Materials alongside James McAvoy, Dafne Keen, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. (The same part that Nicole Kidman played in the 2007 movie, The Golden Compass.) Now, Wilson is lending her voice to narrate the whole trilogy—Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.
