Dive into my thoughts on the first three books in the ACOTAR series. Should I bother to keep reading? Read my quick reviews and help me decide.
Navigating the Wilds of ACOTAR – A Bookish Adventure
So, I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about with Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Think of this as your unfiltered, no-BS tour through my thoughts on these books. Grab a snack, maybe a drink, and let’s get into it!
Book 1: The Slow Burn That Caught Fire
Alright, A Court of Thorns and Roses – it took a hot minute to get its hooks into me. At first, I was like, “Okay, let’s see where this goes,” rolling my eyes at the usual romancy tropes. But damn, Sarah J. Maas knows how to spin a tale. I got so sucked into Feyre’s world that by the end, I was like a junkie needing my next fix. It’s not every day that a book makes me eat my words about romance fluff. By the end, I was ready to devour the entire ACOTAR series.
Book 2: Where the ACOTAR Magic Happened
Then I started A Court of Mist and Fury, and I was obsessed. I devoured this book in every spare second I had. It’s the shining jewel of the series for me – the characters, the plot, the whole shebang was just next-level. I finished it riding a high and couldn’t wait to start the next book.
Book 3: When the Honeymoon Phase Ended
Cue A Court of Wings and Ruin. I was primed for epicness. What I got was… well, kind of a letdown. The main love story, which was the heart and soul of the first two ACOTAR books, turned into this bland, “been there, done that” snoozefest. I felt like I was watching my favorite rom-com couple settling in and becoming boring. That would be great for a book about an aging married couple, but not great for a book filled with adventure and eternal life. This book was such a disappointment, in my opinion.
To Read or Not to Read? That Is the Question
Now, I’m sitting here, wondering if I should bother with the rest of the ACOTAR series. Wings and Ruin had me rolling my eyes so hard, and I don’t want to do that again. The main character went from somewhat relatable to “please stop talking”, and Rhysand… dude, where did your spark go? I get it, he’s supportive, but can’t he be interesting too?
If the next books are just more of the same, count me out. I’m at a crossroads, people. Help a girl out – should I stick it out, hoping for a return to the glory days, or cut my losses and find the next series to binge?
