Murderbot is coming to AppleTV+—read the books, watch the series trailer and mark your calendars for May 16th!
I’m slowly navigating The Murderbot Diaries short story series. But, every time I pick one up, I get sucked in by author Martha Wells’ ability to blend sci-fi elements with dry, dark humor. If you’re a reader and haven’t started the series yet, get on that immediately. (No, seriously—stop scrolling and go find All Systems Red. You’ll thank me.)
The Murderbot Diaries follows a self-aware SecUnit (Security Unit) who would prefer to be left alone to binge-watch TV. Unfortunately, it keeps getting dragged into situations involving human emotions, unexpected alliances, and way too much violence for its liking. It’s part action-packed space adventure, part existential crisis, and part deadpan comedy.
AppleTV+ is bringing The Murderbot Diaries to life in a new series starting May 16th, and I could not be more excited. It stars Alexander Skarsgård (who is perfect for an unintentionally funny and emotionally stunted cyborg) and is rumored to feature some of my all-time favorite comedy actors: John Cho, Jack McBrayer, and Anna Konkle. Not to mention the rest of the brilliant regular cast including David Dastmalchian, Tamara Podemski, Sabrina Wu, Noma Dumezweni, and more.
Do yourself a favor—watch the trailer now:
While I’m thrilled about the show, nothing beats experiencing Murderbot’s internal monologue firsthand. You’ve got time to catch up before May 16th. Get reading!
