Trapped in a Toxic Throuple: The Murder of Aileen Seiden

When love goes bad, it can go very, very bad. Just look at Aileen Seiden—a vibrant young woman from Miami whose life was cut short by the very people she should have trusted most. Aileen, Christina Araujo, and Zach Abell formed a throuple, sharing a bond that, beneath the surface, was unstable, toxic, and ultimately deadly.

These three didn’t just date; they lived and worked together, sharing nearly every aspect of their lives. But far from being harmonious, their relationship was marked by jealousy, manipulation, and a constant struggle for power. Friends close to Aileen saw the imbalance. It seemed one person often felt left out or, worse, targeted by the other two. In this case, Aileen frequently found herself excluded. Friends noticed Christina and Zach’s increasing control over Aileen and, alarmingly, signs of physical abuse. Trapped by the knowledge that Christina’s influential father was in law enforcement, Aileen felt powerless to seek help.

In 2018, Aileen joined Christina and Zach on a road trip that would end in tragedy. Days later, someone discovered her body on the side of a Florida highway, beaten so severely that she was unrecognizable. Without any identification, investigators initially classified her as a Jane Doe. Only after they traced a blood-stained motel room and reviewed CCTV footage did they identify Aileen and piece together her final hours alongside Christina and Zach.

When authorities brought in Christina and Zach for questioning, the two quickly turned on each other, shifting blame back and forth. But evidence told the real story—both of them were deeply involved. Investigators uncovered how Aileen began dating Zach in 2017, later forming a throuple when she learned about his relationship with Christina. Yet jealousy, insecurity, and a toxic imbalance of power led their relationship down a dark, violent path.

In the end, Aileen lost her life to those she loved and trusted. Her story serves as a stark reminder that when love turns into control and manipulation, it can quickly become deadly. And check out the upcoming 48 Hours which promises a much closer look at the crime.
