Watch Michael Winslow and Odd Nordstoga blow the audience away with their cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”
It’s been over a decade since this performance took place, yet every time it comes back, I have to stop what I’m doing and watch. Folk-rock musician Odd Nordstoga and vocal artist Michael Winslow took on Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love,” and the result is just mind-blowing.
It’s not that covering “Whole Lotta Love” is that unique; I’m pretty sure it has to be one of the most covered songs by rock bands worldwide. I mean, even I’ve covered it, and I can’t sing rock worth a damn. What makes this performance special is that it sounds like Led Zeppelin in all their glory, but it’s only Michael Winslow, Odd Nordstoga, a guitar… and NOTHING ELSE!
No offense to the talents of Odd Nordstoga, but the clear champion in the performance is Michael Winslow. I initially discovered him when my Dad showed me the first Police Academy movie (classic!), and as a little kid, he stood out as one of my favorite actors, mostly because I couldn’t believe the sounds that came out of his mouth. He was like an alien sent down to earth to share his unique skills. After that, I mostly lost track of him until I caught a clip of him performing on America’s Got Talent a few years back. He still had all the talent, and now, as an adult, his skill still blows me away. Just watch this performance from Senkveld – med Thomas og Harald show in Norway:
