“The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.” – Moulin Rouge
When Moulin Rouge came out in 2001, I lost my mind and saw it time and time again. My obsession was partly because it was a musical, partly because it was a Baz Luhrmann movie, and mostly because of Ewan McGregor. And, I mean, come on… HE.WAS.SINGING! I laughed, I cried, I mouthed the words by the third time I watched it… I was 100% a super fan.
It’s been a long (LONG) while since I’ve seen Moulin Rouge (which I should maybe make a point to do), and apparently, it’s been just as long since Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor have sat down together. Their busy schedules have had them moving in separate circles, but somehow Variety found a way to bring them back together in an Actors on Actors interview.
Back in the early 2000s, it seemed as if both Kidman and McGregor were only destined for movie greatness; television was far less superior and would’ve been considered a step down in their careers. But over the last two decades, the quality and flexibility of television have grown, and both actors boast successful television series on their resume. In the below Actors on Actors interview, McGregor discusses his roles (yes, roles, plural) on Fargo while Kidman talks about her role on Big Little Lies.
