I’m still not sure if I’m completely sold on Ryan Murphy’s newest series, Doctor Odyssey. Don’t get me wrong—I’ve stuck with every episode so far, but my commitment is rooted in one undeniable fact: like so many of us who ever watched Dawson’s Creek (whether it was back in the day or during a binge-worthy rewatch), I fell just a little bit in love with Pacey Witter.

Was it a real crush? A platonic crush? Or maybe just a natural instinct to root for the underdog? Whatever the reason, much of that affection came down to Joshua Jackson’s charm. That guy could sell you an old rowboat and make you think it’s a luxury yacht. So naturally, anytime Jackson signs on to a new project, it’s worth checking out. Add in heavy hitters like television legend Don Johnson and Broadway superstar Phillipa Soo, and I was pretty much obligated to give Doctor Odyssey a shot.

But let’s be honest—the show’s real star might just be The Odyssey itself. This fictional, state-of-the-art ship is an absolute stunner. From the sleek sets to the golden-hour lighting to the way the camera glides through every scene, it feels like a floating palace for the elite. Production Designer Jamie Walker McCall and the rest of the series’ craftsmen have created a space that’s as much an escape for viewers as it is a dramatic backdrop for the story.

The show takes you through every inch of this vessel: the high-tech medical facility, the luxurious outdoor pool and deck, the dynamic dining room, the personal cabins, and, of course, the bridge. Each space is so meticulously detailed that it’s hard not to be swept away by the grandeur—even if you’re still on the fence about the plot.
