There is nothing that gets my mouth watering faster than a slice of ooey, gooey caramel cake, and this recipe from Grandbaby Cakes looks so tasty that I want to reach right through the screen and pull it out.
Sadly, folks, I can’t bake! (Someday, I’ll tell you the tale of how Costco and homemade sugar cookies helped me almost send my mother to the hospital.) So, I guess the next question is, who feels like baking me a caramel cake?!

Cake:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature (try a quality butter like this or this)
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3 cups sifted cake flour
- 6 large eggs plus 2 egg yolks, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sour cream, room temperature
- 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
Caramel Icing:
- 1 1/2 sticks butter
- 2 (12 ounce) cans evaporated milk
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
